Dear Jill:

Congratulations on your amazing book  Life Skills: Keys to Effective Living!  I can honestly say it is the most comprehensive manual that I have ever seen in the area of personal development and recovery!

As someone who regularly speaks about alcoholism and the related family concerns, I am so pleased that you have taken the time, the care and the effort to write a simple but detailed plan to help those in need and the people who care about them!

I love the fact that you start with a chapter on Understanding What Happened and then blend into a Life Skill Quiz.

This allows the reader to begin at the beginning and start from a place of understanding rather than confusion! Jill, with the care and the love that you have poured into this work, it should be considered THE Handbook for Healing for those in need! Again on behalf of myself and the thousands who will heal with this book… THANK YOU and Congratulations!

Respectfully,

Barry Spilchuk, Co-author

Dear Jill,

It seemed fitting to me as I read your book and noted all the wonderful and poignant offerings you provide to those who are seeking help in their healing process. Your book offers a treasure trove of comprehensive, helpful tools to aid adult survivors of abuse on their healing journey. You have dealt with each pertinent aspect of your book with honesty, a  message of hope and deep respect for the reader.

Good luck to you Jill in all your endeavors. Let me know when the book is available to the public. We shall include it on our Adult Survivor booklist when we send out from the Hotline. Let me know if that is okay with you. Thanks for the opportunity to participate and add my two cents worth!

Sincerely,

Jill,

Thank you for the chance to review Life Skills: Keys to Effective Living. This book represents a significant and useful approach to dealing with entrenched life problems.

Jill Raiguel understands recovery. Her Life Skills: Keys to Effective Living is a breakthrough book, giving clients clear, simple steps to learn skills they missed during an often dysfunctional childhood. Knowing how to stand up for themselves, let go of blame, manage their anger-- all are keys to breaking generational patterns of abuse. Mixing insight with plenty of opportunity for reflection and planning, this book is the ideal compliment to therapy, group work, or more disciplined study. Kudo's to Jill on a powerful addition to the recovery field.

Again, I appreciate the opportunity.

Sincerely,

Kendall Johnson, Ph. D.

Dear Jill,

Your Life Skills book took me on a PRIVATE AND GENTLE JOURNEY INTO MYSELF. I could dialogue with the book about certain issues that I didn't necessarily want to talk over with friends. I am the child of an alcoholic and my two husbands were alcoholics. All of them abused me. Your book helped me claim my personal power.

Just answering the questions and filling out the goals clarified issues for me. For example, I NEED SUPPORTIVE FRIENDS or I NEED TO NURTURE MYSELF. I didn't realize these things were missing in my life until I read the statements. I can now be aware of my over-helping and steer clear of those relationships. My favorite line is "Treat yourself like an honored guest" on page 114. I remind myself of that daily. These simple statements have had a powerfully healing effect on me.

Thank you for creating Life Skills. I recommend it to anyone who wants to tackle child of alcoholic issues. Your approach is so loving and yet thorough.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Hudson
